BEIS published its final evaluation report for the Electricity Demand Reduction (EDR) pilot on Monday 22 July. The pilot offered financial incentives to organisations in Great Britain to deliver significant reductions in peak electricity demand, through the installation of lasting energy efficiency measures such as more efficient lighting systems or more efficient electrical equipment. Across its two phases (winter 2015-16 and winter 16-17) EDR incentivised 22 organisations across 31 projects. The evaluation found that “for both participants and society at large, the EDR pilot was cost effective”. In total, the trial saw an additional winter peak reduction of 2,162KW in Phase 1 and 1,845 kW in Phase II (Winter 16-17).
