A government consultation issued on Monday 22 July is seeking views on the emerging findings from the ongoing ‘Review of Carbon Capture Usage and Storage (CCUS) Delivery and Investment Frameworks’. The document seeks comments on CCUS specific risks, CO2 transport and storage business models, electricity generation CCUS business models, industrial use of CCUS, and CCUS for hydrogen production. Feedback from the consultation will aid the completion of the review and consideration of detailed implementation of preferred business models, including issues such as liabilities on government, public finance considerations, State Aid and the regulatory framework that business models might operate under. The consultation closes 16 September.

A Cornwall Insight and WSP report, commissioned by BEIS, to review market-based frameworks for power Carbon Capture Usage and Storage (CCUS) was published on Monday 22 July. The report assessed different models of a Contract for Difference (CfD) structure to incentivise CCUS power projects and concluded the approach would be suitable for the technology. The authors recommend specific elements of a CfD which would need to be adapted including technology specific and payment aspects.
