Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles have emerged as the frontrunner in the effort to decarbonise transport in UK and international markets.

Electric Vehicles have gained significant momentum in recent years, and the space now involves a range of traditional energy market players as well as new participants, such as fleet operators and automakers.

The size of the opportunity is large, with potential for innovative retail offerings, smart charging, and grid services.

At Pixie Energy, we examine the whole Electric Vehicle sector, distilling key trends, issues and opportunities into accessible reports, forums and training courses for our customers.

The Energy Systems Catapult recently published a study, by low carbon energy consultancy Element Energy, Vehicle to Grid Britain. The study examines the long-term values available to users of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. V2G allows EV batteries to export energy to the networks, whether that be the home or business it is connected to, or the wider system. Vehicle owners could also capture value from grid services, as well as smart charging benefits which reduce the cost of importing energy by doing so at times of low cost.
