The West Yorkshire Combined Authority announced that its electric vehicle (EV) rapid-charging network went live on Friday 2 August, with the switch-on of the first chargepoint. It is the first of 88 being installed across West Yorkshire as part of the £3mn-plus scheme, where ENGIE will install, own and operate the chargepoints. Each of the new sites are free to use until the end of October 2021 and will have one bay exclusively for taxis and private hire vehicles and the second for all other users. New locations will be added every week until the network is completed later this year.
