First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon officially opened the £6mn Stirling District Heating Network on Wednesday 7 August. The project, which received £2mn support through the Scottish government’s Low Carbon Infrastructure Transition Programme, was developed collaboratively with Stirling Council and Scottish Water Horizons. The government said it will use wastewater to provide affordable and low-carbon heating the local Stirling community. Stirling is aiming to become Scotland’s first carbon neutral city.
