On Friday 6 September, Chair of the Science and Technology Committee Norman Lamb made a select committee statement following the publication of the Committee’s report, Clean growth: Technologies for meeting emissions reduction targets in August. Lamb called for the Government to develop a strategy for decarbonising heating, suggesting that a mix of different low carbon heating technologies were the probable solution. He said that large-scale trials of different technologies, such as hydrogen and heat pumps and heat networks are needed now to gather evidence for future decisions.
