Solar Trade Association (STA) Chief Executive Chris Hewett has sent an open letter to the Big Six and other electricity suppliers in support of the delivery of export tariff offers to solar households in advance of the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). Published on Wednesday 17 July, the letter said that only Octopus Energy provides certain offers to all solar homes, following the closure of the administered export tariff guarantee. Hewitt noted that whilst government policy has caused domestic and solar and storage market to slow “there is a real appetite for it in the UK”, and “policy now relies squarely on the market stepping forward to provide a fair export price for those investing in solar power.
