A project between public and private sectors is set to deliver more electric vehicle (EV) charging points and ensure a seamless connection between renewable electricity generation, the distribution network, and public EV charging infrastructure. Published on Thursday 29 August, the partnership will include Transport Scotland, SP Energy Networks and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN). SSEN will examine the electricity network infrastructure required, whilst in central and southern Scotland SP Energy Networks will provide additional public EV chargers, which will be integrated with the electricity network. The partnership includes £5mn in Scottish government funding and an additional £2.5mn from the network companies. Trial projects will take place in 2020-21.
