Following the appointment of Boris Johnson as the UK’s new Prime Minister, Renewable Energy Association (REA) Chief Executive Dr Nina Skorupska urged him to ensure the UK’s focus to reach net zero by 2050 “does not slip.” In a statement on Tuesday 23 July, she called for “a far-reaching, long-term and bold approach to policy making” to counteract current policy gaps highlighted in the Committee on Climate Change’s recent progress report, and urged the new administration to “introduce E10 for transport fuels, drive the growth of interoperable public EV charging networks, renewable heat, a flexible energy system and a route to market for the renewable power technologies.”
