Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell announced that Labour will introduce 2.5mn interest-free loans for the purchase of electric vehicles (EV). Speaking on Saturday 21 September, he said the loans of up to £33,000 will allow low income households, those living in rural areas, independent contractors and SMEs to save on EVs. Access to the interest-free loans would be contingent on participation in a mass trial of vehicle-to-grid technology.
