Prime Minister Theresa May has announced that the government will today (Wednesday 12 June) lay a statutory instrument to implement a target for the UK to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. This will amend the Climate Change Act 2008. The Prime Minister said this legislation will mean that the UK is on track to become the first G7 country to legislate for net zero emissions. Additionally, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport established a Youth Steering Group to be led by the British Youth Council to advise the government on priorities for environmental action.
