Roads Minister Michael Ellis has announced that all chargepoints backed by the government’s Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme must be smart and be able to be remotely accessed, as well as be capable of receiving, interpreting and reacting to a signal from 1 July. Announced on Monday 24 June, it follows the government’s Road to Zero strategy, and will work to keep costs low, reduce high peaks of electricity demands and minimise the impact of electric vehicles on the electricity system.

Government
