Interim Energy and Clean Growth Minister Chris Skidmore has confirmed that the government is not set to increase the 6GW capacity cap for the third Contracts for Difference (CfD) allocation round to support the UK’s net zero carbon target. It follows a written question posed to the minister on Monday 1 July. On Thursday 4 July, Skidmore responded, adding that based on its understanding of the pipeline of projects, the government has “set the level of the capacity cap to promote competitive tension, whilst delivering significant capacity and ensure smooth delivery of low carbon generation through the 2020s.”
