Data from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) has shown that investment in clean energy exceeded $300bn for the fifth year in a row in 2018. Published on Wednesday 16 January, global clean energy investment was $332bn (£257bn) in 2018, representing an 8% fall on 2017. BNEF found that wind investment rose 3% to $128.6nm (£99.6bn) in 2018, but solar investment fell by 24% to $130.8bn (£101.3bn), which BNEF said was partly due to sharply declining capital costs as manufacturers cut their prices due to a large surplus in PV modules.
