Bristol Energy is partnering with the Energy Systems Catapult to trial heat as a service, rather than selling energy in kWh. Announced on Thursday 7 February, Bristol Energy is to provide a government-backed trial to offer households the chance to buy a “Heat Plan tailored to their individual home and lifestyle”. In the press release, the supplier said that, using data collected via a smart heating control system, it can calculate a fixed monthly cost that is “bespoke to the triallist’s home and lifestyle and does not fluctuate with the weather”. Bristol Energy also said that heat as a service could create a route-to-market for low carbon technology. The trial is to run for households who are currently in an Energy Systems Catapult smart home trial.
