Bristol City Council has announced that it has agreed its first commercial connection to the Bristol Heat Network. Announced on Tuesday 29 January, the new connection will serve 375 new homes in the new Castle Park View housing development once the building is completed in 2022. The heat will be provided by a number of energy centres including a new gas combined heat and power plant. The council already has heat networks which serve over 1000 social housing properties, but this is the first commercial connection to a privately developed site and will generate income for the council. Councillor Kye Dudd, Cabinet Member for Energy and Transport, said: “we have high hopes that this connection will be the first of many.”
