A new platform which provides a ‘matchmaking’ service to bring together community energy groups and
owners of sites for renewable energy generation has been established. Announced on Thursday 5
December, PowerPaired will look to support communities to take control of the way their energy is
generated, saving money and tackling climate change. Developed by NGO Forum for the Future and
supported by the Greater London Authority, Friends Provident Foundation and the players of the People’s
Postcode Lottery through the Postcode Earth trust, National Grid has already offered some of its
substations as potentially viable sites for hosting community-owned renewables projects, as well as
Oldham Council, Suffolk County Council, Aster Homes and St Mungo’s Charity.
