Consumers are facing difficulty accessing the water, energy, telecoms and financial services, according to a recent report by the Public Accounts Committee. Published on Friday 12 July, it finds that despite common issues, individual regulators often take inconsistent approaches and have not made enough progress in working together and with government to improve services for consumers. The report has recommended that the four regulators should develop a mechanism to develop consistent approaches to tackle problems for consumers across water, energy, telecoms and financial services. They should also identify and address legal or policy barriers to protecting consumers, where each regulator should report their progress in tackling areas such as decarbonisation by the end of 2019.
