UK Power Networks (UKPN) is to partner with UPS, High Speed 1 and the Warwick Manufacturing Group to assess the feasibility of wireless charging for electric vehicles (EVs) in three locations in London and Tamworth. Announced on Tuesday 15 January, the purpose of the project is to understand the impact on infrastructure and the commercial viability of wireless charging, while also investigating how its future use could reduce costs, and improve productivity and safety while also increasing the uptake of EV fleets across the UK. The project is to be funded by a £50,000 grant from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and Innovate UK, and will run from January to March.
