Two reports by the Environmental Defense Fund Europe (EDFE) and the Green Alliance have called on the
upcoming government to bridge the affordability gap between electric vehicles (EVs) and fossil-fuel
vehicles. Published on Monday 11 November, the reports put forth several steps the government can take
to lower the costs of EVs: reduce the upfront cost of EVs; adapt existing successful policies; and to end the
sales of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 and introduce a zero emissions vehicle (ZEV) mandate on
auto manufacturers.
