UK Power Networks (UKPN) has announced that residents of a block of flats in Brixton, south London are
set to be among the first domestic users in the UK to part in a local energy market offering flexibility
services to the distribution network. Announced on Thursday 3 October, UKPN, EDF Energy and
Repowering London will trial the project at Elmore House, which also has a peer-to-peer energy market
through the EDF Energy and Repowering London CommUNITY project, enabling residents to access
electricity generated from a solar PV system on the block’s roof, store it in a battery and trade with one
another using blockchain technology.
