The Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (ADBA) has hailed the restoration of higher tariff levels for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) as a “vital boost” to UK’s renewable green gas industry. Legislation passed in Parliament means that from Tuesday 22 May anaerobic digestion (AD) plant operators will be able to claim a restored tariff of 5.6p/ KWh of renewable heat generated for their Tier 1 biomethane (the first 40,000MWh they feed into the grid per year). Once plant is commissioned it will receive a guaranteed tariff level for 20 years. Chief Executive of the ADBA, Charlotte Morton said AD green gas produces “much lower levels of emissions than natural gas” and improves energy security.
