The government has announced a new Innovate UK and Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) competition for pre-production projects that can enhance the UK’s long-term capabilities and supply chain in zero-emission vehicles. APC is offering £25mn of collaborative (match) funding for UK-developed late stage R&D to support growth in advanced low carbon propulsion capability in the automotive sector. Eligible projects must include: alternative propulsion systems; electric machines and power electronics; energy storage and management; lightweight vehicles and powertrain structures; and thermal propulsion systems. The competition opens on Monday 13 May and the deadline for registration is at midday on 10 July.
