Drax, Equinor and National Grid Ventures have signed a Memorandum of Understanding committing them to work together to explore how a large-scale carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS) network and a hydrogen production facility could be constructed in the Humber in the mid-2020s. It was announced on Monday 27 May by Drax which described this as the first significant action from the industry since the Committee on Climate Change’s report on achieving net zero – the report found that CCUS and hydrogen technology clusters would be essential if the 2050 net zero target is to be achieved.
