The department set out its decisions on a range of issues relating to the non-domestic Renewable Heat
Incentive (RHI) on Tuesday 29 May. One such decision is that payable heat from very large plant will be
limited to 250GWh/ year. Moreover, recipients will be able to combine multiple plant on one site for tariff
purposes. The process of staggered commissioning for biomethane installations will be removed, and more
broadly, a replacement where an original installation breaks down will be allowed. All new plant, as well as
additional capacity added to existing plant will be required to declare compliance with environmental
legislation and have all relevant permits in place in order to receive support. Finally, third party finance
provisions relating to the domestic RHI were also clarified.
