The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee published on Friday 11 January the government’s response to the committee’s Electric Vehicles: Driving the Transition report and criticised the government’s electric vehicle (EV) policy for having a “lack of ambition”. The Committee had proposed moving the 2040 end of conventional car sales target forward to 2032, but the government’s response reiterated that part of its 2040 mission is for all new cars and vans to be effectively zero emission by this date, and that is will review progress in 2025.
