Latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), published on Tuesday 5
November, has indicated continued popularity of electric vehicles. Sales of hybrid electric vehicles
increased by 28.9% from the same time last year, with battery electric vehicle registrations almost tripling at
151.8%. Plug-in hybrid vehicles fell just short of their performance in October last year, down -1.7%. With
registrations of diesel cars continuing to decline, alternatively-fuelled vehicle registrations reached 9.9%
market share in October – up from 6.9% last year.
