Smarter Grid Solutions has welcomed the Department for Transport’s (DfT) consultation for EV charging. In a blog dated Wednesday 23 October, Senior Consultant Dr Laura Kane and Executive Director Dr Graham Ault stated that the expectation of coordinated, smart charging on all EV charging will set the course for better outcomes for EV customers and the whole energy system. The company is also exploring public charge point infrastructure as part of the Network Innovation Competition ‘Charge’ project with partners SP Energy Networks, EA Technology Ltd and PTV, in order to deliver trials of smart EV charging in Merseyside and North Wales and the potential to use different managed charging approaches to avoid costly network reinforcements.
