Highview Power has announced plans to construct the UK’s first commercial cryogenic energy storage facility at large scale, which will be located at a decommissioned thermal power station in North of England. Announced on Monday 21 October, the 50MW/250MWh project will work to support the UK achieve its goal of decarbonising industry, power, heat, and transport. The company is set to develop a UK portfolio of projects and is in the process of securing sites to meet the expected global demand for energy storage.
