In response to Committee on Climate Change (CCC) recommendations, the government has announced plans to improve building energy efficiency and decarbonise transport. In the Tuesday 15 October response, the government said it would introduce: proposals to improve the energy performance of non-domestic buildings – potentially saving businesses around £1bn per year in energy costs by 2030; a new holistic Transport Decarbonisation Plan; and a proposal to establishing new governance arrangements to drive forward cross-government efforts to deliver the net zero target. She also said a new cabinet sub-committee on climate change could be established and said the government will set out further detail on the net zero target in the National Infrastructure Strategy this autumn.
